Aug. 13, 2006: A Place in the Sun

Current mood:bored
Sadly, we are back from Vegas.
We mainly had fun.  We arrived Sunday and met Branden's uncle for dinner at the Spice Market Buffet, which is one of the best in Vegas.  SO MUCH FOOD!!!  Monday we gambled some, and pretty much had a relaxing day. Had In and Out for lunch, then drove around searching (yes, searching) for a liquor store.  Finally we ended up at some grocery store with a big selection where I broke a bottle of wine. That night we ate at the Tournament of Kings, which was not a cheesy as we had been led to believe.  No silverware, but they did have Heineken and Ye Olde Plastic Bowls and Mugs. Tuesday was Big Kitchen Buffet Day.  If you like shrimp cocktail and cherry pie with your eggs Benedict and waffles, this is the place for you!  Tuesday night we went to Studio 54 at the MGM Grand.  It was pretty cool.  They started off with disco stuff from the '70s and advanced by decade until the house DJ was playing his own mix. There was a guy dancing like Michael Jackson.  He was really good.  Beth stuck a dollar in his pants.  Wednesday was guy/girl day.  The girls went to the Fashion Show Mall and the guys went to Star Trek: The Experience at the Hilton and "geeked out." (At this point, I will refer you to Trace's blog, where the geekfest will continue.)  We all got together at Quark's Bar at the Star Trek thing for dinner and got STUPID DRUNK!

Then we stumbled back to the hotel.  Thursday was couples day.  Trace and I got up really early and went to see the Stardust before they tear it down at the end of this year or early next year.  Went back to the hotel and after a quick lunch and some penny slots, went to a Texas Hold 'em lesson.  Both of us know how to play, but if you take the lesson, you can get into a $1-$2 blind game, which is as cheap as it gets.  I lost a little bit because (and Trace can vouch for this) I was getting SHITTY CARDS!  I couldn't tell you the last time I got cards that bad.  Trace, however, won 80 bucks.  Then we went and had a REALLY nice dinner at 8-0-8, a Hawaiian seafood restaurant at Caesar's Palace, with the winnings. We chose this place because it was near our next destination: The Colusseum to see Cirque du Celine.  That's right, bitches.  We saw Celine Dion.  And I don't care how much any of you laugh.  It was probably the best live show I have ever seen, and Trace cried.  My only disappointment is that she's leaving at the end of this year, so we can't go again next time we are there.  Then we wasted much cabfare and went to Fremont Street.  We packed when we got back to the hotel so that we wouldn't have to do it the next day.  This was a pretty broad picture of what went on.  I can't wait to go back.  If anyone wants more details, you can message me.
